The sixth most common side effect of diabetes in Sudan is dental complications. Dr. Abdurrahman Ramadan, professor at the local dental university, gives one day each week to treat the patients for these complications. At this time his only facility is an empty room. We have secured a complete dental setup from Dentaid in England. It is designed for the room provided and should be in place in the next few weeks… by September 1, 2006. The dental facility will be a part of the diabetic center. The total cost of the project was $5,500.

We now turn our attention again to the needs in Darfur…the place most have heard of because of the pitiful conditions in which the people live. We continue to look for ways to help with the education of children like those in the adjoining picture. There is also a hospital in Al Fasher that provides care for the people in the IDP (internally displaced persons) Camps. One of the greatest opportunities is medical training and easily transported medical instruments.

Our desire is to mobilize a humanitarian team to visit next spring. If you are interested in going or in helping others go, email jerrys@tamh.net.
